About Gord
I Empower You—Not My Authority
As a child, my deepest lessons came from the rhythms of nature. Spending summers with my grandmother by the ocean, I learned to listen to the world around me, to trust the truths that nature revealed, and to feel connected to the land in a way that was instinctual and true. These early experiences shaped not only who I became but also how I understand health and healing today.
The white coat in medicine has a practical purpose—it protects doctors from germs and messes. But beyond that, it signals authority, often used by doctors when they need to take control in critical moments. In the treatment room, though, that same white coat can send the wrong message, suggesting that authority is being imposed rather than forming a partnership.
Although I hold the authority to lead with credentials—a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and acupuncture credentials with distinction—I choose not to rely on that kind of authority. My focus is on empowering you to take charge of your health, guiding you to tap into your own strength and resilience. While my qualifications span veterinary pathology, environmental chemistry, and acupuncture, my true strength lies in working alongside you, supporting your body’s natural ability to heal.
You Are Seen by Gord—Truly, Deeply, for Whatever Your Problem Is
When you step into my space, you are not just a patient with a condition. I see you—truly, deeply, for who you are and whatever it is you’re going through. I create a space that reflects authenticity, and I hold you in that space, calming and grounding you so that you can connect to the peace and potential within yourself. My life and my clinic reflect this truth, and I invite you to create a life that reflects yours.
My Experience—More Than Just Credentials
My authority doesn’t just come from formal education—it’s rooted in the lived experiences that have shaped me. Farming, in particular, provided me with a sense of security and integrity that a credentialed job with a pension never could. It taught me how to adapt to uncertainty and take full responsibility for my part in the flow of life, whether it’s working with nature, my body, or the challenges life presents.
In farming, I learned to embrace unpredictability, and that experience now informs my work in health care. The decisions I made on the farm carried real consequences—just as the decisions we make about our health do. This connection to the land and the understanding of responsibility and resilience are lessons I bring into every treatment. I’m not just treating symptoms; I’m helping you navigate your health with the same integrity and awareness I learned through years of working with nature.
How I Work with You
When we work together, I don’t impose a treatment plan on you. Instead, we collaborate to understand your body’s needs. You aren’t just receiving care—you’re part of the process. I bring in the best of Eastern practices and combine them with evidence-based Western medicine. This means using acupuncture not just to treat symptoms but to support your entire system—your nervous, immune, and hormonal systems—helping you regain balance.
But this isn’t about creating dependency on treatment. My goal is to help you build confidence in your body’s capacity to heal. Together, we work toward long-term improvements, not just temporary relief.
Beyond the White Coat Effect—Building Trust, Not Fear
In traditional medicine, the “white coat effect” often creates a dynamic of fear and distance. We look to doctors to save our lives, and while their authority can be critical in emergency situations, it doesn’t always foster trust. There’s often no space for calm or connection—only the anxiety of what might come next. But here, in my clinic, the experience is the opposite.
I walk with you on this journey, helping you reclaim your life. I see you, not just as a body to treat, but as a whole person. The space I create, the way I meet you where you are, and the trust we build together form the foundation of your healing. Here, trust is everything. You aren’t just a passive recipient of care—you are an active participant in your own healing, and together we walk this path toward well-being.
A Partnership for Your Health
As we work together, I’ll guide you toward understanding the connection between your body and mind. Health is a holistic process, and the best outcomes happen when you are engaged and active in your own care. My role is to help you see the power within yourself—to guide you back to the natural balance your body is capable of maintaining. Whether we’re addressing physical pain, stress, or deeper challenges in life, the journey is yours, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
